I am God's Child. ~ John 1:12
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." (NASB)
My sister, what was your moment? That special time where you just KNEW you were a sinner, you needed Someone to save you, and you asked that Someone - HJesus Christ - to come live in your heart and save you? Some moments are life-shaking, going blind on the road to Damascus type experiences. Some will have that moment in a moving church service with weeping and wailing. Still others will have an experience as warm and quiet as the sun creeping across the floor on a spring afternoon. No matter how you came to ask Jesus to be your Savior, you are now God's child. His child! A daughter of the King of the whole universe! The Creator of everything that is or ever was or ever will be. His daughter. God loves you as if you are the only child He ever had. No worrying about hand-me-down gifts or blessings. You don't have to wait for anyone to get finished with or outgrow what God has given them. And you shouldn't be waiting for that! I remember reading once about a well-known and powerful minister of the gospel who visited the grave of the famous faith-healer Kathryn Kuhlman. He said that he had placed his hands on her gravestone and asked God to give him the gift that she had. I don't know why he did that, if he thought that he could heal more people with her gift on top of his or if he didn't have faith in his own gift, but I remember feeling a "check" rise up in my spirit. To this day I have not watched any of his shows, partly for that reason and partly because I never cared for him. But now I have a different feeling for him - pity. He doesn't understand, for all his years in ministry, for all the lives he has touched, he has no idea that Kathryn Kuhlman's gift was for her, and that God has given him the gift that is right for him.
God will give you blessings and gifts that He created just for you. You may have heard the saying God doesn't have grandchildren. Well he doesn't have step-children either! God only has sons and daughters. And the moment you asked Jesus into your heart, that is the moment that you became His daughter. I know people who celebrate their days as their re-birthday, complete with cake and parties. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. My re-birthday is July 14th. I will be 11 this year. Breaking of bondages! Maybe you decide that yuo should spend that day giving of yourself to your favorite charity, or you will make a monetary donation to your favorite ministry. Or maybe you just decide that you will spend the day quietly with the Lord. I encourage you to celebrate the day, because God calls you Daughter.
I am Christ's friend. ~ John 15:15
"No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you."
At this point in the Bible, Jesus is speaking to His disciples at the feats of Passover, before He was arrested and went to the cross. He had washed their feed, Judas had left, and Jesus had told Peter that he would deny Him three times that night. Immediately after telling Peter this, He said, "Do not let your heart be troubled." (John 14:1a) I never thought about it before I started this study, but it occurred to me that Jesus was comforting the disciples, especially Peter. I mean, if I was told that I was going to do something horrible I would be in a state of despair, and I am sure Peter was too. But Jesus calmed the fears and despair of Peter and the rest of the disciples. They had been told that Jesus was leaving, their friend and teacher. They didn't understand what He was going to do or why He was doing it.
My sister, have you ever been through a moment like that? Perhaps you were with a bunch of people who didn't believe in Jesus, or made fun of Christians, and you didn't stand up to be counted. Maybe they were your family or friends, or maybe someone with authority over you like a teacher or boss. Afterwards you felt condemned because you didn't say anything. Maybe you feel like you can't understand the Bible as well as you should, or that you keep messing up over and over. My sister, Jesus is speaking to you in this verse... He has called you His friend. Friends forgive. Friends support. Friends are on your side, even if they don't always agree with you. I hope each of you has a friend like that. If not, then I pray that God will bring you a friend "with skin on" to walk this walk with you. I have a friend like that. I have known her for over 20 years, and she has stood with me through all the bad decisions and good times... through the storms and sunny days. I cherish her, she cherishes me, and I pray daily for her salvation. That's right, she isn't saved... yet. But I also have Jesus beside me. There are times when I feel like nobody else believes what I do, and i feel so alone. But I know that Jesus is there. He is my friend, and He wants to spend more time with me, He wants to talk with me. I have His Word to guide me, and His Spirit to guide me. So do you, my sister! I truly believe that there is no problem in this world that the Bible doesn't have the answer for. Sometimes we don't find it right off, but we will find it if we keep seeking.
If you feel like you have betrayed Jesus by something you said or did, or maybe something you didn't do or say, my sister let me assure you - Jesus still calls you friend. He isn't fickle like children can be. "If you don't play what I want, I am taking my toys and going home!" Jesus never takes His toys and goes home in a huff because we don't play by His rules. He knows our failings, he knows which of His rules we won't play by, He knows what we are going to do that will make Him sad even before we come to that point in our lives. He knows, and yet He still calls us friend. Jesus is the best Friend in all of eternity. He will never leave you. Because that's what friends do. Stand by us.
Project: God's Princess
This is a women-only Bible study group. It's purpose is to help women become who God means for them to be, and to form a support system among sisters in Christ to help them celebrate, mourn, and get through the mundane days ahead of us.

Who You Are In Christ
This was compiled and is used by Neil T Anderson. It comes from his book Victory Over the Darkness, and is used in his other books. Each of us has bondages in our lives, and you cannot successfully break them without first gaining an understanding of just who you are in Christ Jesus. I encourage you to print this list and read over it daily. Laminate it and put it on your bathroom mirror. Tape it to your refrigerator. Place it inside your daily devotional as a reminder to read it. In the coming weeks we will examine each of these point in light of the Word and learn more about our true identity!

Who I Am In Christ
Who are you? OK, what labels did you attach to your name? Mother of...? Wife of...? Did you name your career? Or the school where you got your diploma or degree? Why is it we have to qualify ourselves? Why can't we be just Kate or Jane or Mary? I remember an episode of Touched By an Angel in which Tess asked another angel who she was. The other angel replied simply, "I am Monica." Do we add those labels to our names to give us more importance or to make us unique?
My sister, don't you know that you are already important and unique in the Father's eyes? He has written your name on the palm of his hand. You are His beloved. Unfortunately, so many of us have no idea of what we are worth to Him. We see ourselves as flawed, based on past experience, what society says about women like us, what cruel and hurtful things that have been said about us by our families or others, even by our own selves. Have you ever wished that you were someone else? Wanted to change your hair or nose or your body? (I confess, ladies, I do it too. I color my hair.) Why is that? Why do we want to be someone we are not? I think the answer lies chiefly in what the media tells us is beautiful. She is tall, shapely but evenly proportioned. Her face is symmetrical with slightly round eyes, full lips, perfectly arched brows. She has no wrinkles, scars, stretch marks or liposuction. She is graceful, never wears glasses or braces, has highlights in her hair. Black women are taught that the lighter their skin is, the better, while white women need to have a tan to be beautiful. Even after these women have children, they are back to their pre-pregnancy figure within weeks. They eat salads and yogurt, and the occasional chicken breast. Let me tell you a secret: that is virtually impossible to achieve. And I guarantee those women who achieve those standards of "perfection" still have doubts and fears, the same as us "regular" girls. I have another secret for you: God thinks you are beautiful.
Have you ever thought that you aren't good enough for ministry? That you can't sing or preach or teach so you are just relegated to the back pew, wearing your nondescript clothes, listening to the preacher talk about missions and blessings and thinking that you aren't going to get anything big, you just aren't that important? Maybe you made a big mistake in your past. Maybe you were cast away by your husband or earthly father. Maybe you were abused and bullied. Maybe, like me, you spent time in prison. Oh, my sister, lift your head! You are beautiful! You are important! You are powerful!
Chances are that you are not believing at least some of what I have said. Some of you don't believe any of it. I know. I was one of those women a few short years ago. And then I began to learn what was important: who I am in Christ. Apart from Him, I am nothing. But IN Him... oh I am so much more than I ever dreamed possible. It's a process, it took me a very long time before I even began to believe what the Bible said about me. I want to take you through 33 things that you are in Christ. This should take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks to do, but we will get there. I know we each want to be stronger, better women of God, more effective in our lives. Learning who you are in Christ is the first step. In the next posting I will list the qualities and the Bible verses that support them. I am so glad you decided to join me on this journey! Let's get started!

Welcome, Ladies!
I decided finally to get started with the lessons/study/whatever. People are having problems all around me, myself included. There is no better time to seek the face and will of God than when you have chaos all around and things are crumbling around you. I don't know of a single person that isn't having problems in their life.
I want to make this blog a place for women to come together and learn about God and themselves, and for us to become a support system for each other in these troubling times. I plan on starting with teaching on Who I Am In Christ, and I am taking this teaching from Dr. Neil T. Anderson. Dr. Anderson has written many books aimed at braking bondages and helping Christians to grow. Later texts may include things from Joyce Meyer, Kay Arthur, Beth Moore, and many others. Some books I particularly want to share with you are Lady in Waiting by Jackie Kendall and Debby Jones, A Jewel in His Crown by Priscilla Shirer, and A Woman after God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George. I feel it is necessary for us to listen to the godly women who have gone before us.
In Titus 2, verses 3-5 we read "Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the Word of God will not be dishonored." This is my mission for this group and my life. I want to become an older woman in the sense that I can help the younger women in my life (physically and spiritually younger) to become more like what God would call them to be. I also want to be a younger woman in the sense that I am more willing to sit at the feet of the older women in my life to learn from them. I was just thinking the other day as I was settling into the house I am living in now that I wish I had spent more time with my Grandma Bear when she was cleaning and organizing. Her house may have had a lot of stuff in it and been more 'lived in' than a show house, but she was organized far more than I have ever been in my life! I am better than I used to be but definitely not where I need to be! How much could we have learned had we been willing to listen to our mothers and grandmothers, our aunts and teachers and the ladies at church? There is never a bad time to start learning ladies. I am 40 years old, and I have a lot of 'book knowledge' but sometimes I don't see how to apply that knowledge or use it in my life. I have determined to spend an hour each day with God and learn more about what He wants from my life, both here in this blog and group and in other areas.
I will welcome any and all questions, comments, and criticisms. Please leave them here or on the Facebook page. All I ask is that we each be respectful of others' opinions and comments. Remember we are all Daughters of The King, and that makes us Sisters.
May God bless you richly this day and the rest of your lives.
